A new study suggests that a new condition may also be associated with coronavirus infection. According to Mashregh News, quoted by Indian Times, the results of a new study indicate that the pink eye condition may be one of the main symptoms of Covid-19. Experts point out that some patients with COVID-19 have eye symptoms and that there may be new coronavirus in the conjunctival secretions of the infected patients. While cough, fever, and difficulty breathing are common symptoms of the disease, a new study has shown that pink eyes must also be another reason to get tested for COVID-19 infection. This study that has been published in the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology found that conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis could also be major symptoms of COVID-19. In March, researchers reported a 29-year-old woman with a severe case of conjunctival disease and difficulty breathing symptoms that went to the Eye Institute of the Alberta Royal Alexandra Hospital and was diagnosed with the coronavirus a few days later. The Canadian scientists noted that the patient did not have any symptoms such as fever and cough. They also mentioned, “While this finding provides important and new information for people regarding their health, it also complicates eye examinations for ophthalmologists and staff.”

According to the Mehr reporter, Researchers at the University of Virginia found that exercise reduces the overgrowth of blood vessels in the eyes of mice by 45 percent. Clogged blood vessels play a significant role in macular degeneration and several other eye diseases. Macular degeneration leads to vision loss. “The benefits of exercise were shown on the eyes even with little amount of it, and it does not necessarily mean the more the exercise, the more the benefit,” said Bradley Gelfand, the Research Team Leader. Researchers do not yet know precisely how exercise prevents the overgrowth of blood vessels. Of course, they believe many factors play a role in this regard, including the increase in blood flow to the eyes. “The onset of vision loss is often associated with decreased exercise,” Gelfand said. “It is clear that when a person’s eyesight and vision are impaired, people’s desire to engage in physical activity decreases.” Researchers are keen on doing further research in this area.

The new coronavirus can infect your eyes as much as it infects your lungs. The new coronavirus can infect your eyes as much as it infects the lungs, and COVID-19 is essentially a respiratory infection, but experts doubted that the virus could penetrate the eye as well. Scientists have new direct confirmation of this fact that is based on a patient in China who suffered an acute attack of glaucoma immediately after recovering from COVID-19. Due to this, they emphasize the importance of eye protection. For medical staff, it is the use of goggles and face shields, and for a normal person, regular hand washing and keeping hands away from the eyes. It is recommended to use eye protection in addition to a mask for people who take care of an infected person at home.
